Paige is potentially "days away" from a WWE return, according to a

TMZ Sports

interview with Alberto Del Rio. The Brit last wrestled on the June 27th edition of Raw last year - meaning she's spent over 16 months away from the ring.

The 25-year-old was cleared to wrestle in September but has yet to be seen on WWE programming - although her social media activity indicates that she has spent time at the Performance Center in Orlando.

Paige was hit by injury in the summer of 2016, and her time on the inactive list has been peppered with controversy. She was twice suspended for violating WWE's Wellness Policy and was tied to a number of scandals - some involving public rows with Del Rio. Despite this, she has maintained a great deal of support from fans, and her return would likely be a very popular one.

In the same interview, Del Rio denied that he has any interest returning to WWE. He wrestled for Global Force Wrestling as recently as July, where he defeated Bobby Lashley to unify the GFW Global Championship and Impact Wrestling Championship - but was suspended following domestic abuse allegations also involving Paige.

Paige's return would surely be a boost to WWE's women's division. Not only is she one of the most marketable superstars in WWE, she is also one of their most experienced women's wrestlers - having grown up in the industry as a member of the Knight family, one of the most well-known wrestling families in the United Kingdom.

Paige made her WWE debut in 2012 as part of NXT, where she became the brand's first ever Women's Champion. She then won her first Divas Championship on her main roster debut, defeating AJ Lee in a matter of seconds on Raw in April 2014. Hopefully, having been cleared to return, we see her back in a WWE ring again soon.
