The second round of the New Japan Cup 2021 kicked off today at Item Ehime in Ehime, Japan. After receiving a first-round bye, EVIL faced off against Jeff Cobb, who defeated Satoshi Kojima to earn a spot in the second round. Great-O-Khan also looked to continue the momentum from his win over Tetsuya Naito as he took on Toru Yano in the semi-main event.

Great-O-Khan was unable to continue his momentum, though, as he was pinned in the middle of the ring by Toru Yano. The bout featured multiple comedy spots, as is common with Yano matches, and featured a moment where The Sublime Master Thief sat on a chair at ringside while O-Khan threatened to break his KOPW 2021 Trophy.

The match did have some serious in-ring action sprinkled in, though, and the United Empire member dominated the action but failed to connect with the Dominator. This gave The Sublime Master Thief time to give the crowd some more comedy during the finish as he tied O-Khan's hair to the barricade which forced him to cut it to avoid a count-out loss.

This left O-Khan with a pair of scissors, though, and he charged at Yano with the sharp object. The Chaos member managed to roll out of the way and he pushed Red Shoes Uno to the floor in the process. He then took advantage and Low Blowed Great-O-Khan before following up with a Spear and a Cradle for the 1-2-3.

The United Empire's luck fared no better in the main event as Jeff Cobb faced off against EVIL. The match featured Bullet Club interference and the usual ref bump which has become commonplace in the former Double Champion's matches.

The interference proved to be too much for Cobb. The Hawaiian Hulk managed to take out Dick Togo, but Yujiro Takahashi hopped on the apron as Cobb went for Tour Of The Islands. This ultimately distracted Red Shoes and The King Of Darkness took advantage with a Low Blow and Everything Is EVIL to pick up the win.

With the results in the bag, EVIL will square off with Toru Yano in the first quarter-final match on March 16.
