WWE Trademarks Old WCW & ECW Pay-Per-View Names
The Wednesday Night Trademark Wars continue...
Dec 12, 2019
In recent months, WWE and AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes have been having their own small battle within the Wednesday Night Wars by trademarking old WCW and ECW properties.
Rhodes began the conflict by trademarking Bash At The Beach, the old WCW pay-per-view, along with Dusty Rhodes, and The Match Beyond (the original name for WarGames). Rhodes later trademarked SuperBrawl and Slamboree.
WWE then retaliated in November, filing their own trademarks against two ECW events, Barely Legal and CyberSlam.
The company has now upped the ante again, going on a trademark binge on December 6th. Numerous trademarks were filed against former WCW and ECW events including Hog Wild, World War 3, and Massacre on 34th Street. WWE even revived a trademark against one of their old pay-per-views, Fully Loaded.
The full list is as follows:
The trademark applications state they will be used for: "A show about professional wrestling; the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of wrestling through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of wrestling."
