WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg has reportedly stepped down from his role of Co-Lead Writer of WWE SmackDown Live.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider

is reporting that Dogg, real name Brian James, informed WWE of his intention to resign from his position yesterday after becoming increasingly frustrated with changes made to SmackDown scripts by Vince McMahon himself, and is said to have reached his breaking point during this week's episode at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

At the time of writing, there is no sign as to who will be replacing the D-O-double-G in the role.

Road Dogg re-joined WWE as a producer all the way back in 2011, and had been working alongside Stephen Guerrieri as Co-Lead Writers of the blue brand in recent times. The former Tag Team Champion dealt with matters on the road while Guerrieri worked from WWE's headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Over the last couple of days, Road Dogg has tweeted prayers referencing change in his life:

"Today I pray that I face the change, that is inevitably coming, head on and with faith and courage. The only constant is change!

"Today I pray that I can relax and breath thru every step I take and every task I take on. Too often I’m a bundle of nerves and anxiety, like a duck on a pond; underneath the water it’s feet are going 90 mph!
