Matt Hardy's WWE NXT Plans Revealed
A different future on the Black And Gold Brand was possible...
Mar 9, 2020
Two weeks ago, Mike Johnson at PWInsider revealed WWE tried to re-sign Matt Hardy by offering him a place in NXT. Ultimately, the offer was not good enough for The Broken One as he decided to let his contract expire on March 1, and he is now officially a free agent.
Teases in the past couple of weeks and The Young Bucks' recent appearance on FREE THE DELETE have indicated Matt is set to sign with All Elite Wrestling and be revealed as Dark Order's Exalted One. However, Hardy could have been the leader of his own faction in NXT, as he revealed on PWInsider Elite Audio that Triple H tried to keep hold of him by moving to NXT so he could revive his Broken gimmick and lead a stable of followers. The plans obviously did not pan out but Hardy did say he was grateful that The Game did his upmost to keep him in the company.
The former SmackDown Tag Team Champion also revealed that he wanted to stay with WWE and the finale of Free The Delete was originally very different. Instead of Nick and Matt Jackson turning up at the Hardy Compound, Hardy wanted The Undertaker or Bray Wyatt to help him fight off Abomination. Matt did admit, however, that trying to get The Deadman was optimistic, but he still decided to pitch it to WWE.
