Emergency services are searching for ex-WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard after he went missing while swimming in the ocean in Venice Beach, California.
Gaspard went swimming with his 10-year-old son at 4 pm on Sunday but got caught in a strong rip current. Lifeguards quickly rushed to help them and one witness told TMZ that the former Cryme Tyme member directed rescuers to help his son first.
After lifeguards safely rescued his son, another wave hit Gaspard and he has not been seen since. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department said they believe Shad "did submerge."
Divers and helicopters are currently searching the area for the ex-WWE Superstar and have asked anybody who has seen him to call 911.
Gaspard wrestled on and off in WWE from 2002 until 2010. He formed the popular tag team Cryme Tyme with JTG during his stint in the wrestling behemoth, competing against the likes of JBL, John Morrison, and Shelton Benjamin.
Since being released by WWE in 2010, Gaspard kept himself busy and did motion capture for the video game God Of War and helped with stunts in the 2020 DC film Birds Of Prey.
