Following their wins over Kazuchika Okada and Shingo Takagi respectively in Saturday's semifinal matches, Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr. went one-on-one in today's New Japan Cup final from Osaka-Jo Hall.

Both men fought back and forth throughout the contest but it was Zack Sabre Jr. who picked up the win.

After Naito initially kicked out of a Penalty Kick, ZSJ followed up with a Tornado DDT before he hit a second Zack Driver for the victory.

Following the match, Sabre Jr. thanked Naito, with the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion returning the respect before ZSJ announced he won the final with "100 percent vegan, George Michael-approved tekkers." Sabre then declared he would soon be the best wrestler in the world.

On his way to the final, Sabre defeated Ryohei Oiwa, DOUKI, Great-O-Khan, Will Ospreay and the aforementioned Shingo Takagi.

Today was ZSJ's second New Japan Cup win. He previously won the tournament in 2018, defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi in the final.

When Sabre will get his title shot remains to be seen. NJPW's next tour, Hyper Battle, runs from April 3 until April 9.
