Historically, taped broadcasts of WWE programming tend to drop off viewership-wise from their live counterparts, but last night's episode of SmackDown proved to be an exception.

According to

Showbuzz Daily

, the taped November 8 edition of SmackDown from Manchester averaged 2,618,000 viewers, up three percent from the previous week's 2,543,000 average.

The first hour averaged 2,725,000 viewers, while hour two did 2,510,000.

This marks SmackDown's third highest viewership average since the move to Fox on October 4, ranking behind only the first two episodes.

SmackDown led all network fare on Friday night in the 18-34 and 18-49 demos.

Across the network spectrum, ABC took a hit in the 8 PM hour, broadcasting a High School Musical special that did a rather putrid (by their standards) 1,735,000 viewers.

In overall primetime viewership across the four major networks, that High School Musical special was the only show that SmackDown beat. This seems to indicate that while SmackDown is doing fine with younger viewers in its Friday night slot, older viewers outside the target demos stick with more traditional TV fare.
