As the Survivor Series 2019 programme and event itself proved, NXT is being treated on the same level as Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

It would appear that the lure of appearing for NXT, and some circumstances in her own personal life, was enough for SmackDown Superstar Naomi to ask WWE for a move to the yellow and gold brand in the not too distant past.

Naomi recently appeared on the

Women's Wrestling Weekly podcast

and talked about her extended break from the ring last year. This was down to her own health issues and the heartbreaking loss of her cousin who passed away giving birth.

The former SmackDown Women's champ also revealed that she felt she'd done all that she could do on the 'main roster' which promoted her to ask for a move to NXT: "I asked about a year ago to go down to NXT to work. I just think NXT is awesome. I love NXT and also, the time I wasn’t being used much on the main roster so, I was like, ‘Dang, can I go down there and just see what I can get into, what could happen, and the talent down there is just so good.’"

The Innovator of The Glow also stated that she would have liked to have worked with Bianca Belair should she have made the move to Wednesday Nights: "I love Bianca, and her personality and her spirit is even more beautiful so, that was one idea I had. I either wanted to go work against her or to be with her or to do this story but it wasn’t the right time and also, B is a star all on her own and I think they want her to be that and come into her own but, it’s just a dream of mine because we’ve never officially had two African-American tag team champions. That’s never happened, and I think, it might’ve been me and Cameron — we were the first legit, two black tag team females.”

Naomi will be facing Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship in Saudi Arabia at WWE Super ShowDown on Thursday.
