WWE Reportedly Believe Kevin Owens Will Leave Upon Contract Expiration

WWE officials reportedly believe that Kevin Owens will depart the promotion when his contract expires early next year.

It has been reported in the last couple of days that Owens' current deal with WWE expires much sooner than the Prize Fighter initially declared publicly, with the former Universal Champion's contract set to run out in January 2022. Owens had previously said, in 2018, that he had recently signed a five-year deal with the promotion.

The 37-year-old has been actively teasing a future move away from WWE on social media, tweeting - and then deleting - the coordinates for 'Mount Rushmore', which is also the name of a faction he used to be in with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks.

According to Jon Alba of the Living the Gimmick podcast, not only does Owens' deal expire in just five months but there is an internal belief among many in WWE that he has already made the decision to leave the promotion.

Alba said: "In speaking with some WWE sources throughout the day, there is very much an internal belief Owens is gone at the end of his WWE deal. He has dropped multiple hints on social media in the last 24 hours that allude to him being AEW-bound."

If Owens was to leave WWE and join AEW, he would become the latest in a growing line of talent that has opted for the newer promotion over Vince McMahon's company, including Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Christian Cage and, of course, CM Punk.
