Dolph Ziggler is the latest name to be released by WWE.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted"Fightful has learned that former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler has been released by WWE."

WWE have released a number of talents today, including Shelton Benjamin, Emma, Riddick Moss, Top Dolla, Rick Boogs, Elias, and Aliyah. Mustafa Ali also confirmed today that he is no longer a part of WWE. The releases come in the aftermath of the WWE-UFC merger.

Today's release ends an incredible run with WWE for Dolph Ziggler (real name Nic Nemeth). He signed with WWE back in 2004 and had a brief run on TV in 2006 as Nicky of the Spirit Squad. He would be repackaged as Dolph Ziggler in 2008 and he remained a reliable performer for WWE over the next 15 years.

Ziggler ends his time in WWE as a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, six-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time United States Champion, one-time NXT Champion, and four-time WWE Tag Team Champion. He had one of the best Money in the Bank cash-ins in WWE history when he defeated Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title on the Raw after WrestleMania 29 in 2013.

Ziggler has been seldom used in 2023 and he hadn't wrestled on WWE TV since a match against JD McDonagh on the May 29 edition of Monday Night Raw.
