Back on April 15, Gerald Brisco was furloughed by WWE as part of company-wide cutbacks. The longtime WWE employee was not expected to return to the company and Brisco confirmed earlier today that he has been released by WWE.

He tweeted: "Ok, want to get this out the right way. Last night I received a call from @wwe Chairman Of The board @VinceMcMahon to let me know after 36 years of dedication to @wwe i an no longer needed. I'm ok with this. I will still be around to help talent. More info will follow. Thanks."

This ends Brisco's 36-year tenure with WWE. He joined the company in 1984 after he sold his shares in Georgia Championship Wrestling to Vince McMahon. He briefly wrestled on WWE TV as part of The Brisco Brothers but he retired in 1985 and worked as a road agent and booker, becoming one of McMahon's most trusted advisors along the way. After a period of ill health in 2009, Brisco worked as a talent scout for NXT until he was furloughed earlier this year.
