Starting today a free version of the WWE Network will be made available to fans.

According to an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter, the free version of the Network will offer recent episodes of Raw, SmackDown and NXT alongside some historical pay-per-views and original content like The Monday Night Wars, Table for 3 and and Ride Along.

All told, the no-cost version will carry some 15,000 titles.

Naturally, this is only a sampling of the content accessible by those that subscribe to the 9.99 version of the streaming service.

The news of a free version of the WWE Network comes after rumours that WWE have been negotiating with potential partners and looking to sell off PPV rights in a lucrative deal to ESPN.

Quoted in the Hollywood Report, WWE's Executive Vice President of Advanced Media Jayar Donlan claimed that the free version of the Network gives 'a balance of providing a great experience for our fans by essentially offering unlimited access to a larger array of programming while still maintaining the value of our more premium content'.

The giving away of free content combined with the streaming of WrestleMania contributed to the WWE Network receiving it's highest number of active subscribers - 2.1 million - in early April.
