Seth Rollins def. AJ Styles - World Heavyweight Championship
In the opening contest of Night of Champions, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles went one-on-one for the new World Heavyweight Championship.
After some early back-and-forth exchanges, Seth Rollins gained the upper hand by driving AJ Styles' head into the middle turnbuckle. Styles managed to fight back into the contest and he scored a near fall following a Moonsault into a Scorpion Death Drop. Rollins later hit some big offence of his own, connecting with a huge Frog Splash.
After some more back-and-forth action, AJ Styles went for an Avalanche Styles Clash, only for Seth to counter with a Frankensteiner. Rollins followed up with an Implant Reverse DDT for a near fall of his own. The Architect went for the Phoenix Splash but rolled through and after some more counters, AJ hit a Brainbuster on the apron. Styles decided not to take the count-out win and he went for a Phenomenal Forearm, only for Rollins to block it. Seth then hit a Suicide Dive but kayfabe injured his knee in the process.
Styles, smelling blood, locked in the Calf Crusher but Rollins managed to escape. AJ later went for a Pele Kick but missed and Seth went for a Stomp but for some reason stood on AJ's hands. Styles managed to connect with the Pele Kick again and followed up with a Pedigree for another near fall. Styles looked to hit a Phenomenal Forearm but Seth decked him with a Superkick in mid-air. Rollins went for the Stomp again but his knee gave out. He managed to hit a Pedigree, though, and hit the Stomp at the next time of asking for the 1-2-3.
Seth Rollins is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion!
Trish Stratus def. Becky Lynch
The heated feud between Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch had its first match at Night of Champions. Stratus and Lynch had been friends, even teaming together at WrestleMania 39, but the WWE Hall of Famer turned on Lynch after they dropped the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez on April 10.
Both women hit some offence in the opening minutes until Trish Stratus gained control, ripping at Becky Lynch's mouth while she had the Camel Clutch applied. Lynch tried to fight back but Trish put her back on the mat with a Lou Thesz Press. Lynch soon fought back with a Bexploder but Stratus took control again after sending Lynch crashing into the ring post.
The WWE Hall of Famer scored a near fall following a Spinebuster and she later went for the Stratusfaction but Becky blocked it. After some more counters, Becky hit a Leg Drop from the middle turnbuckle but Lynch got her shoulder up at two. Trish went for the Stratusphere soon after but Lynch grabbed her legs and applied a Boston Crab. Trish used her yoga powers to reach the bottom rope.
Stratus tried to win by count-out but Lynch got back in the ring at nine, only to eat a Chick Kick. Lynch managed to kick out at two and she later applied the Disarm-Her. Stratus escaped by grabbing her hair. Lynch managed to continue on offence to connect with a Manhandle Slam but Stratus got her foot on the bottom rope.
After the action spilled to the outside, the referee was distracted and Zoey Stark suddenly appeared from the under the ring and connected with her Z360 finisher to Lynch, destroying The Man's face in the process. Stratus then followed up with the Stratusfaction to score the 1-2-3.
GUNTHER (c) def. Mustafa Ali - Intercontinental Championship
Mustafa Ali tried to get in some offence in the early going but failed miserably as GUNTHER took control, applying a Boston Crab and STF. Ali tried to hit some offence again and failed as GUNTHER decked him with a Big Boot, sending him crashing to the floor, before he sent Ali flying into the ring post.
Ali eventually knocked GUNTHER off his feet with a Rolling Neckbreaker and he later hit a Sit-Out Powerbomb. Ali followed up with a 450 Splash and the fans in Saudi Arabia hoped the upset was on but GUNTHER managed to get his shoulder up. GUNTHER then fired back with two brutal lariats and he went for his Powerbomb but Ali rolled through and connected with a Superkick. After a Tornado DDT, Ali missed a 450 Splash and GUNTHER levelled him with a Shotgun Dropkick.
One Powerbomb later and Der Ring General remained the reigning Intercontinental Champion.
Asuka def. Bianca Belair (c) - Raw Women's Championship
Asuka vs. Bianca Belair opened with some back-and-forth action until Asuka gained control, using Belair's braid to her own advantage, which she continued to do minutes later. Belair eventually fought back by driving Asuka into the steel steps. Belair tried to press home her advantage and the referee got in the way, which provided the opening for Asuka to try and hit the mist. The Empress of Tomorrow missed, though, as Belair ducked it and the Raw Women's Champion tried to follow up with the KOD but Asuka countered into the armbar.
Belair later went for the KOD again but Asuka misted her own hand and then rubbed it across Belair's eyes before she followed up with some brutal kicks for the win.
Rhea Ripley (c) def. Natalya - SmackDown Women's Championship
Rhea Ripley didn't even break a sweat during her SmackDown Women's Title defence against Natalya as she threw the challenger into the steel steps in the opening moments and followed up with a Headbutt back in the ring before she hit the Riptide for the win.
A very unhappy birthday for Natalya.
Brock Lesnar def. Cody Rhodes
A nightmare for The American Nightmare.
Cody Rhodes, with a 'broken arm', faced Brock Lesnar in the semi-main event of Night of Champions. Lesnar dominated the early going, hitting Belly-to-Belly Suplex after Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Cody was wearing a Titanium plated cast on his arm and he used the cast to batter Lesnar with shot after shot and a Double Axehandle for a near fall. Rhodes tried to follow up with a Cody Cutter but Lesnar kicked out again.
Rhodes hit a Cross Rhodes but the broken arm stopped him from covering The Beast. Rhodes hit another Cross Rhodes as he continued to fight through the pain. After punching himself in the face, Cody went for a third Cross Rhodes but Lesnar locked in the Kimura on the broken arm. Rhodes screamed in pain and he went for the roll-through spot that scored him the win at Backlash but Lesnar knew it was coming and kicked out, keeping the Kimura locked in.
Lesnar rolled through to reposition the Kimura and keep Cody's hand away from the rope. Cody scratched Lesnar's back, he was in so much pain, until he looked to have passed out. Rhodes managed to continue fighting but Lesnar just wrenched the arm some more. Somehow, some way, Cody managed to make it to the bottom rope.
Lesnar looked to capitalise with an F5 but Cody countered into a third Cross Rhodes. The American Dream looked to have been achieved but Lesnar kicked out! Soon after, Lesnar landed the F5 but Cody kicked out.
Although that didn't work, Lesnar applied the Kimura Lock again and Rhodes passed out so the referee called for the bell.
Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens (c) def. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa - Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships
After three minutes of teases, the first lock-up of the match took place in a collar-and-elbow between Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa. Zayn dodged an early Samoan Spike attempt from Solo. Sami Zayn looked to have the upper hand in the early going but Reigns attacked Zayn from behind which allowed Solo to gain the upper hand.
Solo and Roman Reigns dominated Sami for several minutes but he eventually made the hot tag to Kevin Owens, who ran wild on Roman Reigns until Solo Sikoa distracted KO. This allowed Reigns to fire back with a Clothesline and he powered up the Superman Punch. KO dodged it and connected with a Pop-Up Powerbomb before a Frog Splash for a near fall. More interference from Solo Sikoa followed, however, which allowed Reigns to hit a Superman Punch.
One Spear attempt later and KO blocked it and fired back with a Stunner. This sent Reigns crashing into the ropes and he rebounded into a Spear to put both men on the mat. Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa were then tagged in and Zayn scored a near fall following a Senton over the top rope and a Blue Thunder Bomb. The Underdog from the Underground went for the Helluva Kick but Solo blocked it and went for a Spike, which was blocked. An Exploder Suplex in the corner later and Zayn connected with the Helluva Kick.
That looked to be it but Reigns broke up the pin and proceeded to rain punches down on Zayn. Reigns wasn't the legal man but the referee didn't DQ the Tribal Chief. This proved to be an unwise move as Reigns accidentally took out the referee with a Spear after Zayn moved out of the way.
While the official was down, Zayn clocked Reigns with a Superman Punch and he went for a Spear, only to eat a Superman Punch from The Bloodline leader. Reigns looked to goad Zayn but he ate a Spear from Kevin Owens for his trouble. Kevin Owens set up to put Roman Reigns through the announce table but The Usos appeared from out of nowhere and buried KO under the table after some Superkicks.
After entering the ring, The Usos decked Sami Zayn with Superkick after Superkick until Zayn ducked and Jimmy and Jey accidentally took out Solo with a Superkick Party. Roman Reigns didn't see the Superkicks on Zayn, only that The Usos took out Solo. This left the Tribal Chief furious but Jimmy had enough and decked Reigns with a Superkick.
Jimmy then told Jey he was doing what he should have done a long time ago and took out Reigns with another Superkick to send him crashing out of the ring. Jimmy then stated it was just him and Jey now, quitting The Bloodline.
Eventually, Solo Sikoa entered the ring and he was Stunnered by Kevin Owens before he was decked by a Helluva Kick from Sami Zayn as the babyfaces scored a huge win in Saudi Arabia.
