WWE Gifts Tampa Bay Buccaneers With Custom WWE Championship
It's not Gronk's first wrestling belt
Feb 8, 2021
It's become customary for WWE to send league-championship winning sports teams a custom title belt upon their victory, and the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no exception.
Triple H congratulated Tom Brady and the rest of the Buccaneers team for their thoroughly dominant 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LV last night in Tampa.
Wrote Triple H on Twitter, "Congratulations to @TomBrady and the @Buccaneers on an incredible performance in the #SuperBowl. From the #WWEThunderDome to @RJStadium, enjoy this @WWE custom title … @RobGronkowski will know what to do with it!!!”
Gronkowski, of course, has prior WWE connections. He not only guest-hosted WrestleMania 36 last year, but he was briefly the company's 24/7 champion. This made him the third man (after Russ Francis and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) to both win a Super Bowl as a player and hold a championship in professional wrestling.
Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, site of last night's game (and the Buccaneers' home field, coincidentally) will play host to WrestleMania 37 on the weekend of April 10 and 11.
