Dirt on Vince McMahon & John Laurinaitis expected to be found in federal investigation
Jul 1, 2024
WWE are expecting "things to be found about Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis" during the federal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and sex trafficking against McMahon, according to Sean Ross Sapp on a Fightful Q&A. People within WWE are less concerned about anything the federal investigation may dig up on the company.
"People in WWE are not nearly as concerned about the company personally. They expect things to be found about Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis. That's just the long and short of it. At least from the talent standpoint, everybody feels rid of those two guys. Now, there was a bit of a false sense of security a couple of years ago but now it has been reiterated that internally there is no longer an association there," Sean Ross Sapp said.
A federal investigation into Vince McMahon has been ongoing since the Summer of 2022 and Janel Grant was asked to pause her lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis in June by the United States Department of Justice due to attorneys for the Southern District of New York investigating the sex trafficking and sexual misconduct allegations against McMahon, which date back to 1986. The lawsuit has been paused until December 11, 2024.
Within the lawsuit, Janel Grant accused Vince McMahon of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. WWE have been accused of looking to sweep the allegations against McMahon under the rug, while John Laurinaitis was accused of sexual assault. Grant also stated within the lawsuit that the NDA she signed with McMahon was unenforceable, citing the Speak Out Act and the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000.
Vince McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in the days after Janel Grant filed her lawsuit after sponsors began to withdraw their support from WWE.
