WWE Confirms Positive COVID-19 Test For On-Screen Talent

It was reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful that numerous WWE talents and a few other industry figures had made him aware of an internal WWE memo, informing them that an on-screen personality had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The memo (which named the individual, though Fightful elected to redact their name from the report) claimed that the individual tested positive after they and their roommate showed symptoms of the illness. The person reportedly last had contact with their peers in WWE on March 26, as production wrapped on the WrestleMania tapings at Orlando's Performance Center.

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet has just posted a statement from WWE, publicly confirming the positive test.

The statement reads, “A WWE employee has tested positive for COVID-19. We believe this matter is low risk to WWE talent and staff, as the individual and a roommate became symptomatic in the days following exposure to two people working in acute health care on the evening of March 26, after WWE’s TV production on a closed set was already complete. The employee had no contact with anyone from WWE since being exposed to those two individuals, is doing well, and made a complete recovery.”

Production continues for WWE's TV shows at the Performance Center, as Vince McMahon reportedly made the decision Friday to resume live programming.
