WWE has confirmed a new, multi-year deal with the USA Network that will see NXT move to Tuesday nights.

NXT will air for the first time in its new weekly slot on Tuesday 13 April, the week following WWE WrestleMania 37.

The switch comes alongside an extension to the deal between WWE and USA Network that has been in place for almost three decades. NXT first debuted on the USA Network in September 2019, when WWE began producing the show live.

"We are thrilled to continue WWE and NBCUniversal’s longstanding partnership with the extension of NXT on USA Network,” said Triple H WWE Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development. “The move to Tuesdays provides a new opportunity for us to grow the NXT brand and enables our partner, USA Network, to continue to build its strong portfolio of sports and entertainment programming.

"We are incredibly proud of our three-decade partnership with WWE and in extending USA’s NXT deal, we are further establishing our portfolio as an unrivalled home for quality WWE content,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal. “By transitioning NXT to a Tuesday timeslot where WWE has performed well in the past, we are giving our passionate fanbase more of what they love with back-to-back nights of exhilarating, live programming.”

The switch to Tuesdays for NXT has been in the works for a while and is reportedly down to the USA Network acquiring the rights to the National Hockey League. Wednesdays are a big night for matches in the NHL and is considered a more valuable program than NXT, so switching WWE's black-and-gold brand to Tuesday nights was an easy decision for the network.
