On this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, Drew McIntyre vanquished SmackDown Superstar King Corbin in the main event as Bobby Lashley and MVP watched on. The Scottish Psychopath's next challenger was seemingly set as MVP jawed with McIntyre as the show went off the air.

The match was made official yesterday as WWE announced The Star Of Monday Night Raw will defend his WWE Championship against Lashley at the Backlash pay-per-view. This will be the two Superstars first pay-per-view bout against each other since Slammiversary 2016 when they clashed for the TNA World title. The All Mighty emerged victorious on that occasion which could prove ominous for the WWE Champion.

Lashley's first world title opportunity in WWE in 13 years comes in the midst of a renewed push for the former Intercontinental Champion. Since WrestleMania 36, he has won five straight singles matches against the likes of R-Truth and Humberto Carrillo and has aligned himself with MVP, having told his wife Lana not to accompany him to the ring.

The Backlash pay-per-view will be broadcast on June 14 on the WWE Network. Check out the announced card below:

• Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Bobby Lashley - WWE Championship • Edge vs. Randy Orton
