WWE star Edge will be gone for a little while following this past Monday's episode of Raw.

As a way to explain his absence, WWE have announced that he sustained a (storyline) injury. They addressed The Rated-R Superstar's situation on the most recent episode of The Bump, claiming that he had an MRI done and had suffered a 'grade two MCL sprain'.

Edge was attacked by The Judgment Day at the end of his match with Dominik Mysterio. He was hit with multiple chair shots to his knee, before Finn Balor nailed a Coup de Grace on it while his leg was propped up on the chair.

If this were a legitimate injury, the healing time would be several weeks.

The WWE Hall of Famer is currently signed to a part-time deal and intermittently disappears from television for weeks or months at a time.

Edge has recently talked about how he is nearing the end of his in-ring career, suggesting that he may retire in 2023.
