WWE have hired a now-former independent wrestler as a writer's assistant.
It was reported by Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net that Patrick Scott had been hired by WWE as a writer's assistant for SmackDown and he would be starting with the company on Monday, February 26.
Scott has now confirmed he is with WWE, tweeting: "Yesterday, I left NC as an independent wrestler. Today, I woke up in CT as an employee of @WWE. I have much more to say, but Twitter's character limit is telling me to take it home. To every single person who has supported me in my 10+ year career, THANK YOU."
Patrick Scott made his pro wrestling debut in 2016 and he primarily wrestled in North Carolina for independent promotions, notably PWF and DEADLOCK Pro Wrestling. PWF had a send-off for Scott on Saturday night and he left his boots in the ring following his match.
In addition to his role as a wrestler, Scott worked as a coach at the Carolina Wrestling Academy. He previously wrestled on WWE NXT as an enhancement talent in a loss to Heavy Machinery in 2017 and Kona Reeves in 2018.
WWE creative is headed up by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
