The cover star for WWE 2K19 has been revealed, ahead of the game's worldwide release on October 9 (available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC).

WWE and 2K have officially announced that the game will be fronted by none other than current WWE Champion AJ Styles.

Since debuting for WWE at the 2016 Royal Rumble, Styles has enjoyed an incredible rise in a relatively short space of time, defying those who claimed that he wouldn't fit in in WWE. This announcement is surely another sign that he is truly one of the most important and highly-regarded Superstars in WWE today.

In the official WWE 2K19 press conference, Styles also revealed details of a competition entitled the 'WWE 2K19 Million Dollar Challenge'. This will be open to PS4 and Xbox One gamers, and will feature four steps:

  • Beat a particular mode in the game, one which will be announced soon.
  • Submit a video explaining why you deserve to face (and defeat) AJ Styles.
  • Make it to the semi-final round and defeat 3 other semi-finalists.
  • Defeat AJ Styles himself to win one million dollars.

WWE 2K19 will be the sixth official WWE game produced under the 2K banner, and the first to feature Styles as cover star. Previous cover stars are as follows:

WWE 2K14: The Rock

WWE 2K15: John Cena

WWE 2K16: Stone Cold Steve Austin

WWE 2K17: Brock Lesnar

WWE 2K18: Seth Rollins
