A "Wrestling 4 Women's Charity" event was promoted and quickly cancelled last night after it became public knowledge that Joey Ryan was involved with the show.

The event was scheduled to take place on March 20 in Knoxville, Tennessee and the likes of Brian Cage, Sonny Kiss, Trey Miguel, Rhino and Joey Ryan were all advertised for the show. Ryan's promotion Bar Wrestling was also involved in promoting the event and Ryan himself appears to have been involved to an unknown extent in booking talent.

Ryan's association with the event immediately received a backlash and Tony Khan announced AEW talent would not be featured on the show "if Joey Ryan is there." Other wrestlers also backed out after Ryan's involvement became public.

Following the backlash, the now-deleted Wrestling 4 Women's Charity Twitter account announced the show had been cancelled, writing: "We apologize for riling everyone up. It is clear that we're in over our heads. We'll say that everybody booked was fully aware of all details including going through AEW’s 3rd party booking system for talent. Rather than put talent in a tough situation, we've cancelled the show."

Before it's cancellation, the event claimed the show would be broadcast on FITE TV but the streaming network confirmed this was not the case.

Multiple women accused Joey Ryan of sexual assault during the Speaking Out movement in June 2020. He was subsequently fired by IMPACT Wrestling and Ryan has since filed several lawsuits against IMPACT and Speaking Out accusers, some of which have been dismissed.
