After defeating Samoa Joe in the main event of AEW Dynasty, the brand new AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland has had quite a busy reign. Strickland has wrestled two non-title matches against Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus, two title eliminators against Brian Cage and Kyle Fletcher, and has also defended his AEW World Title on two separate occasions, once against Claudio Castganoli on an episode of Collision and most recently at AEW Double Or Nothing 2024 against Christian Cage. Heading into this Wednesday’s June 5 episode of AEW Dynamite at the Blue Arena in Loveland, Colorado, he will be putting the gold on the line once again.

On last night’s AEW Collision, Roderick Strong picked up a victory in singles action over Lio Rush, and proceeded to demand a title shot backstage when confronting Christopher Daniels and Tony Khan. He was quickly granted that shot, giving him the opportunity to win the AEW World Title and go on to face the man who defeated him for the AEW International Championship at Double Or Nothing, Will Ospreay, who earned a title match at Forbidden Door.

The updated card for this Wednesday’s show is as follows;

  • MJF returns to Dynamite
  • Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Roderick Strong - AEW World Championship
  • Saraya vs. Mariah May
