Vince McMahon Wanted Harper And Rowan To Be Like A Legendary WWE Tag Team As The Bludgeon Brothers
Their ring gear would not have translated well to 2018...

Throughout his WWE career, Luke Harper, now Brodie Lee, seemed tied to Erick Rowan. They were both introduced onto the main roster as members of the Wyatt Family and even after they separated from Bray, they reunited as The Bludgeon Brothers in October 2017 and enjoyed one reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Brodie Lee now finds himself in AEW, having been revealed as The Dark Order's Exalted One on the March 18 episode of Dynamite. During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Big Rig talked about The Bludgeon Brothers and how Vince McMahon wanted to base them off legendary tag team Demolition. WWE Creative even designed them ring gear based off Ax and Smash's unique attire. Lee admitted he had reservations on wearing their unique outfits in 2018, however, and luckily, McMahon was happy enough for them to pitch their own ideas for The Bludgeon Brothers.
Lee said: "It became like 'Vince wants to put you guys back together and give you a big push, he wants you guys to be like Demolition.' And I was like ‘man, I don't know if we could wear Demolition gear in the year 2018, I don't know if it'll fly.' And he was actually cool enough to let us kind of revamp it and pitch him our own creative ideas and Rowan, more than me, had great ideas for our look and stuff…We were shown a picture of Demolition and said 'This is what he wants you guys to be.' Literally a picture of Demolition. And creative services are showing us some other pictures and it was just very Demolitionish."
