US Title Number One Contenders Tournament Final Set, Winner Faces Logan Paul At Royal Rumble

WWE’s special edition of SmackDown in two weeks time with the name of “New Year’s Revolution” on January 5 currently has some big matches scheduled, some of which have major implications for the upcoming Royal Rumble 2024 premium live event.

One of those is the finals of the United States Championship number one contenders tournament, which has taken place over the last several weeks. Last night, the finalists were decided as Kevin Owens outlasted NXT’s Carmelo Hayes and Santos Escobar stole a win over Bobby Lashley (thanks to the help of the interfering Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza), both stamping their spots in the finals.

It has been officially announced when the winner of the tournament will get their match against United States Champion Logan Paul, and it will come at the Royal Rumble 2024 show. Paul & Owens have a history in WWE already, and also came face to face not long back on SmackDown, and Escobar has had his eyes on the US Title ever since his opportunity for the gold was taken off him due to an attack.

The announced card for SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution is as follows:

• Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. AJ Styles - Winner faces Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title 
• Iyo Sky (c) vs. Michin - WWE Women’s Championship
