When will Eddie Kingston have surgery?
May 28, 2024
Further details have emerged about when Eddie Kingston will undergo surgery.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the former AEW Continental Champion is scheduled to go under the knife on July 8 to repair his torn ACL and meniscus. Kingston has been on the shelf since he suffered multiple serious injuries at NJPW Resurgence on May 11.
In addition to his torn ACL and meniscus, Kingston sustained a tibia fracture to his leg. Doctors advised the 42-year-old that he couldn't undergo knee surgery until he had physiotherapy for his tibia fracture.
Kingston has been informed he will be out of action for 10 months following surgery, meaning he is unlikely to wrestle before May 2025.
Kingston suffered the injuries during his No Rope Last Man Standing Match against Gabe Kidd when his leg smashed against the guardrail following a Suplex through a table that was suspended between the barricade and the ring apron.
After spending much of his career on the independent wrestling scene, Eddie Kingston signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2020 after impressing in a TNT Title open challenge against Cody Rhodes. Kingston has since established himself as one of the promotion's most popular wrestlers and he is a former AEW Continental and ROH World champion. He also held the NJPW STRONG Openweight Title until his loss against Gabe Kidd.
