In the weeks leading up to IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary 2021, IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo bragged about how she could beat anyone, and it didn’t matter if she knew who she was facing or not. Gail Kim then proposed Purrazzo place the title on the line against a mystery opponent at the PPV, with Thunder Rosa answering the call.

Rosa was unsuccessful in her match, and now a report from Fightful Select has revealed the process behind the match, and Thunder Rosa’s involvement with IMPACT going forward.

Per the report, Rosa’s Slammiversary appearance was in the works for well over a month, and was kept quiet from the majority of the IMPACT roster. The report also states that Rosa’s appearance was merely a one-time deal, and that she is not scheduled to work IMPACT’s latest round of tapings, nor is she figured into IMPACT’s plans moving forwards.

Rosa is contracted to the NWA, but had a long impressive spell in AEW, most notably her wars with Britt Baker. Rosa’s future is the source of constant speculation, with many anticipating that the former NWA Women’s World Champion will leave NWA when her deal is up.
