During his match with Baron Corbin on Raw Monday night,

Rey Mysterio landed unsteadily

after flipping over Corbin's shoulder, coming down awkwardly on his right foot. Though he at one juncture lay on the mat for an extended period favoring his ankle, Mysterio did get through to the end of the match, won by Corbin.

While it seemed possible that the injury could have been part of the storyline, perhaps to soften Mysterio up and make him look vulnerable prior to facing United States champion Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 35 on Sunday,

Dave Meltzer has confirmed

that the ankle injury is legitimate.

The ankle injury necessitated in cancelling Mysterio's scheduled match with Andrade on SmackDown this past Tuesday night. Meltzer added in his Wednesday edition of The Wrestling Observer, "At press time we don’t know about WrestleMania."

In

WWE.com's report

of the injury, it was noted that Mysterio would continue to be evaluated prior to WrestleMania 35

Mysterio wrote in his Instagram video of the injury, "Praying to be ready for Mania this Sunday!"
