Update On New AEW World Title Belt
New AEW World Title belt on the way
Jan 2, 2024
A new AEW World Championship belt looks set to be unveiled in the coming days or weeks.
Samoa Joe defeated MJF for the AEW World Title in the main event of the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 30, ending MJF's reign as champion at 406 days. Maxwell Jacob Friedman had utilised his own BBB version of the AEW World Championship but that belt looks set to be retired after Samoa Joe stated in the post-AEW Worlds End media scrum that the custom design would be going in the bin.
"This [Triple B AEW World Title] is going in the garbage, don't worry about that. This trash right here, this little knockoff, BS Gucci stuff that he has going on, this is going away. We're getting the good belt, the right belt, something that is designed well. I've spoken with Tony intensively about it and we're very much looking forward to it. We have a whole new era we're starting," Joe stated.
Fightful Select has since noted that AEW have already taken steps to make alterations to the AEW World Championship belt and at the very least there will be side plate options for the new title. A black background has also been placed behind the AEW logo on the new belt.
The new title is as follows, according to Fightful:
