Matt Cardona forced to vacate due to injury

Trevor Murdoch is once again NWA World Heavyweight champion, winning the vacated title in a four way match at NWA's Alwayz Ready on Saturday night in Knoxville, TN.
Murdoch won a four way match over Nick Aldis, Thom Latimer, and Sam Shaw (Dexter Lumis) to reclaim the title. The finish saw Murdoch pin Aldis following a top rope bulldog.
The match was originally supposed to be Aldis challenging champion Matt Cardona. However, Cardona tore his biceps while wrestling Blake Christian at GCW Downward Spiral on May 28. Last week, Cardona announced he could be out anywhere between three and five months. He subsequently underwent surgery on Tuesday, June 7.
At Alwayz Ready, Cardona relinquished the belt to NWA owner Billy Corgan, following a long in-ring segment that each of the eventual title match participants got involved in.
This is Murdoch's second reign as NWA World champion. He previously held the title for 167 days from August 29, 2021 to February 12 of this year.
Cardona's reign ends after 119 days. He won the title from Murdoch on February 12 in Oak Grove, KY.
