Tony Khan announced at the beginning of Wednesday night's AEW Dynamite in Jacksonville that has purchased Ring of Honor.

After thanking the Jacksonville fans for their support at AEW's launch three years (in the parking lot there at Daily's Place), he began talking about another organization that launched 17 years earlier: Ring of Honor.

Khan expressed his fanhood of ROH, before announcing that he has purchased the organization.

After joking, "It's not Shane!" (in reference to Shane McMahon "buying" WCW out from under Vince's nose in 2001), Khan then introduced the first match, pitting Bryan Danielson against Christopher Daniels (both of whom main evented the first ever ROH card in 2002, along with Low Ki).

Former ROH owner Cary Silkin tweeted a photo of he and Khan in the hour before Dynamite, captioned, "Is it true?? Is it true??"

Ring of Honor entered a period of hiatus at the end of 2021, with intentions to re-launch later this spring. Supercard of Honor is set for April 1 in Garland, TX, while ROH reportedly has other dates booked afterward.

Several ROH talents, including Jay Lethal, Brody King, and Danhausen, signed with AEW over the preceding months.

UPDATE: Khan has issued a statement that says he has acquired ROH's "Video library, brand assets, and intellectual property", while adding, "The acquisition will be completed through an entity that is wholly owned by Tony Khan."
