WWE Raw Superstar Tommaso Ciampa hasn't been seen onscreen for several weeks now, but his absence was referenced on last night's show.
Ciampa was mentioned in a segment between The Miz and Johnny Gargano. Miz has been targeted by Dexter Lumis in recent times, and explained that Lumis' motive is that Miz chose to mentor Ciampa rather than him. He also insinuated that Ciampa's absence is something to do with Dexter, but Gargano debunked this theory, stating that he texted his former tag partner who revealed that he's currently injured.
Nothing has yet been confirmed out-of-storyline regarding Ciampa's injury status, but this certainly seems to be the kayfabe reasoning for now.
Ciampa hasn't wrestled since September 17, a losing effort versus Bobby Lashley at a WWE live event in Bakersfield, California. His last televised match came on August 22, teaming with The Miz against Lashley and AJ Styles.
Ciampa's former ally and nemesis Gargano appears to be in a new feud with The Miz (who is still simultaneously dealing with Lumis' antics and attacks) - a storyline direction which could certainly leave the door open for a Ciampa return - given the shared history between the former DIY members.
