Three months on from one of the biggest pay-per-views in promotion history in Hard to Kill, TNA Wrestling presented Rebellion 2024 from the Palms Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, April 20. TNA had experienced a tumultuous few months since Hard to Kill with the firing of Scott D'Amore and the departures of the Motor City Machine Guns but the company looked to put together another entertaining show from Sin City.

The main event saw Nic Nemeth, in front of his father and brother Ryan, challenge Moose for the TNA World Championship. Nemeth was unable to become a world champion for the first time since 2013, though. The current IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion came close following two Fameassers, a Superkick, and a Spear. Nemeth looked to follow up with another Superkick but Moose fell to his feet and when Nemeth tried to readjust, Moose suddenly recovered and flattened the former Dolph Ziggler with a Spear for the win.

Moose didn't have much time to celebrate with his System stablemates Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, and Alisha Edwards, however. TNA had been teasing a lights-out surprise in recent days and the lights did indeed go out following the main event. When they came back on, Broken Matt Hardy was stood behind the TNA World Champion and Matt proceeded to lay out Moose with a Twist of Fate. Rebellion then went off the air as Hardy led the crowd in Delete! chants.

The lights-out surprise was initially teased to be Sami Callihan, who made his return during the Knockouts World Title match between Jordynne Grace and Steph De Lander. Matt Cardona couldn't be at ringside to support De Lander but The Good Hands were there instead. The lights first went out for PCO as The Good Hands looked to help De Lander cheat to win but PCO and Jordynne Grace were soon taken out by Kon. The lights then went out again and when they came back on, Sami Callihan was stood in the corner with a baseball bat. The former IMPACT World Champion then laid out Kon and The Good Hands before Grace decked De Lander with the JML Driver to record the successful title defence.

Matt Hardy and Sami Callihan weren't the only surprise returns at Rebellion, though. Steve Maclin headed to the ring and revealed he had been offered a new deal by TNA Wrestling. Before he put pen to paper, he demanded a match at Rebellion. This brought out TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella, who announced he had signed a new talent to TNA only moments earlier and they would be Maclin's opponent. Mike Santana then made his way through the crowd, returning to TNA in the process, for an impromptu match with Steve Maclin. The two competitors put together a back-and-forth affair and Maclin came close to victory following Crosshairs but Santana managed to kick out and he followed up with his Spin the Block discus clothesline for the win.

Rebellion 2024 featured a Last Man Standing Match too as Josh Alexander put away Hammerstone to end their trilogy in his favour. The match was not a traditional Last Man Standing contest, barely featuring weapons as both men instead tried to keep their opponent down for the 10 count by simply wrestling. That changed down the stretch, though, as Josh Alexander suddenly introduced thumbtacks to the match. The longest-reigning TNA World Champion soon found himself covered in pins, however, following an avalanche Nightmare Pendulum from Hammerstone. Alexander managed to get back to his feet at the count of nine by rolling to the outside and Hammerstone looked to press home his advantage, only to eat a Snap Suplex and C4 Spike Piledriver from Alexander. This was enough to keep the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion down for the 10 count.

There was only one title change at Rebellion as Laredo Kid defeated Crazzy Steve on the Countdown show to capture the TNA Digital Media Championship. Crazzy Steve repeatedly tried to remove Laredo Kid's mask during the match but the luchador fought back by biting Steve's face before the challenger followed up with his Laredo Fly finisher to pick up the victory.

Elsewhere at Rebellion, Frankie Kazarian ended his feud with Eric Young in Full Metal Mayhem, picking up the win following a Flux Capacitor through a table. The move wasn't clean, though, and the rough landing left Young needing medical attention due to bleeding from the top of his head. Former NFL linebacker Shawn Merriman also helped Rich Swann defeat Joe Hendry, while The System's Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers successfully defended the TNA World Tag Team Championships against Speedball Mountain of Mike Bailey & Trent Seven. In the opening contest, Mustafa Ali defeated Jake Something to retain the X-Division Championship following assistance from his Secret Service and the bottom rope when he caught the challenger in a Mousetrap Pin.
