The recent Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been a commercial success, so far bringing in over $75million at the box office and on demand. Such returns mean that a sequel is all but guaranteed, with a host of MK favourites absent from the first movie shoe-ins to appear in the sequel.

One such character is MK original Johnny Cage, the sunglasses wearing, testicle punching, loudmouth Hollywood d-bag, and The Miz has thrown his hat in the ring to play him.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Miz said the following about potentially joining the MK Universe:

"Honestly ... if I have a shot at it, I would definitely want to make sure that I give everything that I possibly can to make sure that not only the production company, the director are happy with the character that I get, but also the fans because they are the ones that are so adamant about Johnny Cage being in the movie.

"This is an iconic character in the 'Mortal Kombat' franchise and it needs to be done right. If I'm the person to do it, then so be it. I'm ready to go!"

Indeed Miz seems tailor made for the role, with his Hollywood A-List gimmick essentially making him WWE’s answer to Cage. However, Miz allegedly faces competition for the role from Ryan Reynolds so it’s far from a done deal.
