A big title change took place at Stardom’s event at Korakuen Hall earlier today, as the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia dropped her gold to Stephanie Vaquer. During their hard-hitting match, Vaquer scored the victory with a roll-up, bringing Giulia’s reign to an end after 243 days, becoming just the third ever winner of this belt.

With Giulia on her way out of Stardom, as it was reported in recent weeks that she would be officially leaving, Vaquer takes up the reins as NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. Vaquer previously pursued the gold, losing out in the tournament to crown the first champion, being knocked out by Mercedes Mone. Vaquer adds to her current list of gold which includes both the CMLL Women’s Championship and CMLL Women’s Tag Team Championships.

It was only recently that Giulia stated that she would remain holding the gold until she defends it against Mercedes Mone - a long anticipated match - but with Giulia leaving Stardom and joining Rossy Ogawa’s new promotion, and Mone expected to sign for AEW, the prospect of this title bout happening lessened and lessened as months progressed.
