There was a surprising title change at WWE Payback.

The expectation heading into the show was that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn would hold onto the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships but they ended up losing the belts to Judgment Day's Finn Balor and Damian Priest in a Steel City Street Fight at Payback.

The odds were stacked against the champions due to repeated interference from Dominik Mysterio but others soon got involved, with Finn Balor's friend JD McDonagh pulling Zayn out of the ring after he had the match won following a Stunner from Owens and a Helluva Kick from Zayn to Damian Priest. Owens put McDonagh out of commission with a Pop-Up Powerbomb onto the announce table but KO was taken out by a Spear through the barricade from Rhea Ripley.

Zayn then had the match won again following a Helluva Kick to Finn Balor but Dominik Mysterio broke up the pin with a Money in the Bank briefcase shot to the head of Zayn. Dominik then pulled Finn Balor across Zayn to score the shock victory.

With their win, Damian Priest and Finn Balor become tag team champions in WWE for the first time. They also add more gold to Judgment Day, with Rhea Ripley already the Women's World Champion, while Dominik Mysterio is the reigning NXT North American Champion.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens' reign comes to an end after 154 days, having won the gold in the main event of night one of WrestleMania 39.
