Shane McMahon No Longer Signed With WWE
There goes the money...

Amid speculation that he could be interested in doing something with AEW, it has come to light that Shane McMahon no longer has any sort of contract with WWE.
Fightful Select reported that McMahon does not have a talent or legends contract with the promotion, though he did feature in WWE 2K24 as part of a separate agreement.
While he isn't currently signed to WWE, the odds of the 54-year-old showing up in AEW appear slim. Fightful noted that those they had spoken to say his name hasn't been brought up at a high level. AEW President Tony Khan, meanwhile, recently said that he had never met or talked to Shane in his life.
McMahon himself has spoken to others about the possibility of it, however, and doesn't seem opposed to the idea, per Fightful's report.
Shane had been involved with WWE since he was a teenager, working first as a referee and then in various capacities backstage. He became an on-screen character in 1998 and would intermittently re-emerge for matches and storylines until his shocking departure in October 2009.
Equally shocking was Shane's surprise return in 2016, which led to him becoming a full-time performer on television (until becoming part-time in 2020). His last appearance for WWE came at WrestleMania 39, where he suffered a torn quadriceps during an impromptu match with The Miz.
