The future of the NXT Women's Championship is currently uncertain after Roxanne Perez collapsed following her successful title defence against Meiko Satomura at Roadblock on March 7. The belt is set to be on the line at Stand & Deliver on April 1 in a Ladder Match, it was announced this week, and Zoey Stark and Gigi Dolin qualified for the match on March 14.

Perez's status as champion remains unclear and Michaels noted this week that the champion's health was "still in question". If she is unable to compete at Stand & Deliver, a new champion will be crowned.

Perez collapsing was ultimately part of a storyline and was a recreation of an old Shawn Michaels angle but there may be more to the situation than initially believed. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Perez's collapse was a "cover story for something."

"The reason it's so vague is because the actual situation really is so vague, they actually don't know what exactly is going on. So until they do, they kind of have to go in there with, 'Well, we don't know if she's stripped (of the title).' Just a whole bunch of things going on. What I was told was it's a vague situation in the sense that, hopefully there's nothing wrong, but there might be," Meltzer said.

"She didn't faint after the match, that was a cover story for the fact that something may or may not be going on, and they don't know exactly, so therefore they did the Shawn Michaels angle. I don't know what it is, I was just told that it's a cover story for something, and they don't know exactly what it is so therefore it's a vague story, because the actual situation is vague."

Roxanne Perez has been NXT Women's Champion since defeating Mandy Rose for the gold in December 2022.
