Road Dogg: "I Don't Know What Value Vince McMahon Saw In Sting"

Road Dogg has criticised Vince McMahon's decision to sign Sting for WWE in 2014, with the WWE Hall Of Famer saying that he doesn't know what value McMahon saw in The Icon.

"This is going to get me in some trouble, but this is just the truth. I don't know what value Vince McMahon saw in Sting. Like, he was an older gentleman at the time, he was not going to come back and work 300 days a year for me [McMahon] and he worked for the other company that I didn't follow," Road Dogg said on Sportskeeda's Wrestling Outlaws podcast.

Road Dogg speculated that McMahon signed Sting simply to promote the once-planned Triple H vs. The Rock match at WrestleMania 32.

"I don't know if he knew what he had in Sting and I think he saw it as an opportunity to utilise whatever he had and promote this big match [Triple H vs. The Rock] for WrestleMania next year, which ended up falling through but I see the business strategy behind it. It's just that it sucked because it didn't happen and it definitely sucked for Sting's fans."

Sting would make his WWE debut at Survivor Series 2014 and that ultimately proved to be the high point of his run with the company as The Franchise would lose to Triple H at WrestleMania 31 in a match that was one last insult to WCW before Sting was forced to retire after a loss to Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions 2015.

Sting has since returned to the ring in All Elite Wrestling and he has embarked on a widely-praised run alongside Darby Allin in Tony Khan's promotion.
