Last month, Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch appeared on WWE Backstage and

had some strong feelings regarding the women's division in WWE

: “I think the best thing for the women’s division right now is we eliminate the term ‘women.’ I think it’s now certain to hold us back. We’re then going this is the women’s segment, this is the women’s thing. Why do we need that division?"

Seemingly as a result of The Man's comments, NXT eliminated the term "women's" from the NXT Women's Championship. For a short while, the title was simply known as the NXT Championship.

Fans will have noticed during more recent episodes of the weekly NXT show and at TakeOver: Portland last weekend, the term "women's" has been reinstated into the title's name.

Current champion Rhea Ripley recently confirmed the decision was taken to revert to the title's original name due to the uproar on social media.

Ripley, who will defend the title against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36 in April, later added that she doesn't care what the title is called.
