Rhea Ripley has admitted she expected that Charlotte Flair would be added to her Raw Women's Championship match with Asuka at WrestleMania 37.
Flair was initially pencilled in as the challenger to Asuka for the title at 'The Showcase Of the Immortals' but a positive COVID-19 test and a medical suspension due to suspected pregnancy - which was proved inaccurate - saw her pulled from the card.
Ripley has stepped up to take Flair's place at this year's WrestleMania but the former NXT Women's champion believed that the woman she faced at WrestleMania 36 would be added to the match.
Ripley said, on a media call: "Yeah, I was expecting something like that to happen, but it hasn’t. I hope that everything in Charlotte’s life is doing great. I hope that she’s mentally good and physically good.
"I don’t really know what’s going on with all of that, but I am very excited to step in the ring with Asuka. If Charlotte got added to the match, I wouldn’t complain. I think it would still be an amazing match, and it would be a lot of fun and hopefully, I could get some payback for last year."
