RevPro Event Cancelled After Serious Incident Near Venue

An event from British independent wrestling promotion, Revolution Pro Wrestling, planned for Sunday, July 30 was hastily cancelled just hours before the show was set to take place at the Portsmouth Guildhall in Portsmouth, England.

RevPro tweeted: "Due to circumstances beyond our control today's event at The Portsmouth Guildhall, is postponed and will be rescheduled to a new date. We are working with the venue to confirm the new date and will be in touch with ticket holders shortly."

While RevPro did not directly address the reason for the cancellation, Hampshire Live has reported that an 18-year-old man was found dead in Portsmouth's Guildhall Square at 11 pm BST on Saturday, July 29, just metres from where RevPro were set to hold their show on Sunday. Local police are treating the death as suspicious and they are continuing to investigate.

Police have asked for anyone with information to reach out to them, issuing the following statement: "We understand that news of this will be concerning for residents so please speak to our officers who will be in the area today. Detectives investigating would be keen to from anyone in the area at the time who may have information that could assist our investigation. If you were near to the Guildhall, or have any mobile phone footage or images, or CCTV please contact us on 101 with reference 44230305889."

A 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have since been released without charges.

Talents scheduled to wrestle at the RevPro event included Michael Oku, Sha Samuels, Subculture and Wild Boar. RevPro have announced they will return to Portsmouth Guildhall on Sunday, August 20. Tickets from the cancelled event will be valid for the August 20 date.
