Report: WWE Wants Drew McIntyre Back For Money In The Bank, Both Sides Yet To Agree On Creative

Drew McIntyre has been off WWE TV since WrestleMania 39 amid niggling injuries and uncertainty around his long-term future with the company and Irn Dru looks to be no closer to a return.

According to PWInsider Elite, there has been a push within WWE creative for McIntyre to be back in the mix by Money in the Bank weekend, with the July 1 pay-per-view and the go-home episode of SmackDown on June 30 set to emanate from The O2 in London, England.

McIntyre's WWE deal is due to expire in early 2024, although WWE have the option to add injury time to the contract, and the two sides are reportedly at odds over plans for McIntyre should he return to TV. PWInsider noted that as McIntyre has less than one year left on his current contract, he "doesn't want to be aimlessly floating when he has already proven during the pandemic how important he can be to the overall company, not just as an in-ring competitor but as an overall ambassador to the brand."

It is believed that McIntyre won't be back on Monday Night Raw (the brand he was selected by during the WWE Draft) until both sides reach an agreement over how he will be booked.
