Report: WWE Ordered Talent To Suspend Their Twitch Accounts
If Superstars will stream again remains to be seen...
Oct 30, 2020
WWE told Superstars in early October that the company would be taking control of their Twitch accounts in four weeks. WWE will officially own the accounts and talent will only receive a fraction of the revenue they generate from the streams. Any revenue generated will also count against wrestlers' downside guarantees.
WWE either already owns or will own all talent's Twitch accounts by Sunday, November 1.
Several WWE Superstars suspended their Twitch accounts yesterday, including AJ Styles, Aleister Black & Zelina Vega, Cesaro and Mia Yim. Paige didn't confirm if she was suspending her account, but she was emotional when talking about the situation.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE directly ordered talent to disband their Twitch accounts on October 29. Talent had reportedly known they were going to have to suspend their accounts for a few weeks.
Many of the Superstars said they didn't know if they would be returning to Twitch, but Aleister Black said he and Vega would be having "a conversation" with WWE about the situation at tonight's SmackDown taping.
