Report: WWE Open To Working With Other Companies, In Talks With MLW
Is WWE's forbidden door opening?
Apr 30, 2021
While the forbidden door has been opened across the wrestling world with the likes of AEW, IMPACT Wrestling and NJPW all working together, WWE has remained aloof from such deals.
That looks to be changing, though. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer, WWE is currently in talks with Court Bauer's Major League Wrestling.
If a deal is struck between the two companies, it would be similar to the partnership WWE had with EVOLVE before they bought the company and WWE developmental talents would be featured on MLW TV.
Meltzer noted WWE are unhappy about being framed as unwilling to work with other companies and they want to change that image. WWE also believes partnering with other promotions would "alleviate the frustration" of Superstars who are signed by the company but then never used, especially since there haven't been any NXT house shows in over a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
If anything will come from the talks with MLW ultimately remains to be seen, but Meltzer did note "this is a totally new WWE under Nick Khan."
