WWE President Nick Khan is in talks with New Japan Pro-Wrestling over a working relationship, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer.

The deal would see WWE become NJPW's exclusive partner in the United States, potentially scuppering New Japan's current deals with All Elite Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling.

Talks reportedly began in late March or early April, but there is no indication as to what stage discussions are at. The working relationship would include WWE sending talent to Japan and top stars like Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre would be allowed to work NJPW shows.

Talks with NJPW follow reports that WWE has been in negotiations with Major League Wrestling. Nick Khan has reportedly been leading the charge to show WWE is willing to work with other promotions.

According to Meltzer, WWE is also seeking to partner with NJPW because they believe it would make them more enticing to free agents as some younger talent have grown up watching New Japan and want to work there. Wrestlers in other companies like AEW and IMPACT are, of course, free to work in NJPW.
