After seven years with WWE, Mandy Rose was released by the company on Wednesday, December 14 due to what WWE considered explicit content on her FanTime page. The content was thought to be outside the parameters of her contract.

Rose's release came as a shock to many, including reportedly Rose herself, but WWE felt they had no choice but to fire the former NXT Women's Champion, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

"The feeling was that she way way way crossed the line and they believed they had absolutely no choice but to get rid of her," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Rose's firing came only one day after she dropped the NXT Women's Championship to Roxanne Perez in a match that was originally scheduled to take place at New Year's Evil on January 10. According to Meltzer, Shawn Michaels immediately decided to book the title change after WWE Performance Center Coach Matt Bloom told him what was on Rose's FanTime page.

"I guess there was a meeting and Matt Bloom brought Shawn Michaels, told him kind of what some of the stuff that she's been putting on her subscription service...and told Shawn what was there. Shawn's immediate reaction was we've got to get the title off her immediately. Switched around the whole show, got the title off of her," Meltzer stated.
