Mere hours after Vince McMahon claimed he would only be involved in WWE creative "on a higher level" and wouldn't be "in the weeds," the 77-year-old threw that all out of the window and quickly dived into the weeds, with it emerging immediately after last night's post-WrestleMania 39 edition of Raw that McMahon heavily influenced the show.

In an update after initial reports, PWInsider Elite have confirmed that Vince McMahon was firmly back in charge of WWE creative and was personally involved with the April 3 edition of Monday Night Raw following WWE's sale to Endeavor.

A number of last-minute rewrites were ordered for Raw only minutes before the show went on the air and changes continued to be made well after Raw began, with those changes coming directly from Vince McMahon.

McMahon had his own office at the taping and Chief Content Officer Triple H began Raw on the headset, running the taping. As the night went on, though, McMahon became more and more involved as the person running the show and he was at the Gorilla position for most of Raw overseeing the proceedings.

Dave Meltzer has also reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon is back in charge of creative. Triple H will remain head of creative as Chief Content Officer but McMahon once again holds final say over any creative matters.

Meltzer said"He was running TV tonight. He's back. It's what it was. It will be what it was before. And if people think that was bad, it will be bad. And that's just the way it is. Levesque will be head of creative and will be doing the busywork and all that stuff. Vince is going to have the final say in everything."

As expected, Vince McMahon being back in charge of WWE creative has hugely affected morale in a negative way, PWInsider noted, amidst fears creative will quickly go back to the way it was before Vince's initial retirement in July 2022. One source said the "place felt nuked" although PWInsider noted other sources didn't go that far.

There was mostly a feeling of resignation amongst the roster, with much of that being because Triple H is well-liked and trusted by the wrestlers, especially as many of them developed in WWE through NXT. Other talents, meanwhile, simply shrugged off McMahon being back in charge as they assumed he would become a central creative figure at some point. Those talents were willing to see if McMahon's involvement would become a regular occurrence, though.

Vince McMahon had been head of WWE creative from 1982 until his retirement in July 2022 amid a sexual misconduct and hush money scandal. After forcing his way back into the company in January 2023, it was initially publicly stated that McMahon was only back to facilitate a sale but that gradually changed in the past few months until the 77-year-old was firmly and publicly back in charge of creative last night after WWE was sold to Endeavor.
