WWE star Mustafa Ali returned to Raw on this past Monday's show, marking his first appearance since the November 12, 2021 episode of SmackDown (where he appeared in a backstage segment with Aliyah).

Ali disappeared from television after that and publicly requested his release from the company on January 16 of this year, which WWE refused.

Fightful Select have provided an update on Mustafa's current contract situation following the standoff between him and the organisation.

According to their report, Ali's contract is up in mid-2024, meaning he still has two years left on his his deal. The report also states that WWE had the contractual ability to 'freeze' the contract owing to the time Ali spent at home, but that they haven't to this point.

There is still the possibility that they could extend the 36-year-old's deal due to inactivity, but there has been no indication that the company wish to do so.

Ali scored a victory over The Miz on his return, but he was also mocked about 'taking his ball and going home' during the preceding Miz TV segment. He was attacked by Ciampa following his win, setting up a programme between the two.
